New Protection for COD Orders in the NAP Ready Ecosystem
Online commerce in Bulgaria has one well-known problem — cash on delivery orders that the customer never picks up.
For the merchant, this often means wasted time, tied-up inventory, shipping costs in one or both directions, and additional administrative work. An isolated case may look like a normal risk in commerce. But when it starts to repeat, the problem is no longer small.
That's why we are expanding the NAP Ready ecosystem with a new module — NAP Ready Risk Monitor.
Its goal is simple: to give the merchant a timely signal when a COD order looks potentially risky.
Why did we create Risk Monitor?
NAP Ready started as a platform for easier compliance with Regulation N-18 requirements for online stores. Over time, however, it became clear that merchants need not only technical compliance but also tools that help them in their daily work.
Risk Monitor is part of that direction.
It's not just a new "extra". It's another step toward a more useful and more connected NAP Ready ecosystem, where stores can operate more safely, more informed, and with fewer unnecessary losses.
This is not a public list of "unreliable customers"
It's important to say this clearly.
NAP Ready Risk Monitor is not a public site where anyone can search for people by name, phone, or email. Nor is it a copy of existing platforms for publishing "unreliable customers".
The module works only within the NAP Ready ecosystem and is linked to real orders in the platform.
Stores do not get access to third-party lists. They do not see which other merchant submitted a signal. They do not see other merchants' notes, tracking numbers, or internal information.
Instead, the system shows an aggregated risk indicator when there is a reason for heightened attention.
What does the merchant see?
When a cash on delivery order comes into NAP Ready, Risk Monitor can show one of several statuses:
- No Risk
- Attention
- Risk
These indicators are designed to help the merchant make a more informed decision before shipping the parcel.
For example, if the system detects a higher risk, the merchant can make an additional phone confirmation, request advance payment, or simply pay more attention to that specific order.
How are signals submitted?
If a COD order was unclaimed, refused upon delivery, or contained incorrect data, the merchant can submit a signal directly from the order details in NAP Ready.
This is important because the signals are linked to real orders and are not freely entered outside of context.
The merchant specifies a reason for the signal and, if needed, adds additional information such as a tracking number or a short note.
What happens next?
After a signal is submitted, Risk Monitor begins to account for this case within the NAP Ready ecosystem.
If an order with similar customer data is detected in the future, the system can show a warning to the respective merchant.
It's important to emphasize something here: NAP Ready does not disclose third-party customer lists. The store sees only the result of the check, not details from other merchants' signals.
The goal is not to label a person. The goal is for the merchant to receive a timely signal of potential risk for cash on delivery orders.
Why won't the module "catch" everything at the beginning?
We want to be completely honest.
Risk Monitor will become increasingly useful over time. At the beginning, the system cannot recognize every potentially risky case because the signal database is yet to be built.
The more stores in the NAP Ready ecosystem submit real signals, the more useful the module will become for everyone.
This is the power of the ecosystem — each store maintains control over its own data, but the common protection gradually gets better.
Automatic signals
In addition to manual signals, Risk Monitor can also account for certain automatic indicators.
For example, when a COD order is canceled, it does not automatically mean the customer is unreliable. Sometimes there is a completely normal reason: the product was unavailable, the customer canceled in time, the merchant canceled the order, or there was another situation.
That's why automatic signals are treated carefully. One such case alone is not enough to show a serious risk. But if similar cases begin to accumulate, the system can flag heightened attention.
This approach allows us to be helpful without making hasty conclusions.
Email notifications for serious risk
For more serious risks, NAP Ready can send an email notification to the merchant.
The idea is simple: not every store constantly checks the admin panel for each new order. If the system detects a more important risk signal, the merchant can be notified in time.
This way, they have the opportunity to react before the parcel is shipped.
What Risk Monitor does NOT do?
To avoid wrong expectations, it's important to say what the module does not do.
- Risk Monitor does not guarantee that every risky order will be detected.
- Risk Monitor does not automatically decide whether to ship the order.
- Risk Monitor does not show third-party customer lists.
- Risk Monitor is not a public registry.
- Risk Monitor should not be used as the sole reason to reject an order.
It is a supporting tool for prevention and better judgment.
Why is this part of the NAP Ready ecosystem?
Because NAP Ready is no longer just a tool for N-18 compliance.
The platform is gradually evolving as an ecosystem for online merchants — with digital receipts, XML audit files, invoicing, accounting support modules, integrations with WooCommerce, OpenCart, PrestaShop, Shopify, and Stripe, and now with a risk management tool for COD orders.
Risk Monitor is a natural next step.
It uses the power of the NAP Ready ecosystem without turning personal data into a public resource.
Access for all plans for the first 6 months
So that all merchants can get acquainted with the new functionality, Risk Monitor will be available with its full functionality for all plans for a period of 6 months.
During this period, we will collect feedback, monitor real usage scenarios, and improve the module according to merchants' needs.
After this period, basic protection will remain available for everyone, and some of the advanced features will be included in the Pro and Ultimate plans.
How to get started?
If you already use NAP Ready, no complex setup is needed.
Open your orders in the platform, and for COD orders, you will see Risk Monitor information when there are available signals or automatic indicators.
If you have an order that was unclaimed or refused upon delivery, you can submit a signal directly from the order details.
Connect with NAP Ready
NAP Ready has long ceased to be just a platform for digital receipts and XML audit files. NAP Ready is a complete ecosystem for online stores.
